Aftercare

There are two recommended ways to care for your new tattoo:

Tegaderm:

Tegaderm is a breathable, waterproof, flexible bandage that’s designed to lock in your body’s natural healing fluids while also creating a barrier from outside contact. i will ask you prior to use if you have any skin allergies or irritations to adhesive.

Keep on first dressing for up to 24 hours.

Seeping, fogginess, and blurring underneath the dressing are NORMAL. This is a natural “weeping” process, don’t be alarmed!

Remove the 1st dressing. Do this by pulling in one motion in the direction of hair growth. if it seems tough, a little water will help.

Wash thoroughly with fragrance-free antibacterial soap and water. Do your best to remove as much blood, plasma, and excess ink as possible without scrubbing.

Allow the area to air dry for a few minutes.

Once the skin is clean and dry, apply 2nd dressing. Be sure to try to keep edges smooth and flat to ensure the bandage stays on for the allotted time.

Although Tegaderm is waterproof, prolonged exposure to water is not recommended. Showering is fine; avoid baths or swimming.

2nd dressing can remain on for UP TO 6 days.

After removal, wash again with soap and water to remove any excess adhesive.

Moisturize as needed with whichever lotion you prefer. Flakiness is normal for up to two weeks after bandage removal.

Be advised:

Skin irritation can occur. If you notice a rash, itching, blisters, or a burning sensation, promptly remove the dressing, wash with soap, and begin following the below aftercare instructions.

Wash & air dry aftercare:

Remove dressing after 1 hour.

Wash thoroughly with fragrance-free antibacterial soap & warm water.

Allow to air dry, and apply ointment as needed to keep moisturized. *Avoid regular lotions for the first 3 days as your tattoo is technically ‘an open wound’. Hustle butter, Aquaphor, or A+D ointment are viable options.

Wash morning, mid-day, and evening for the next 3-4 days.

Avoid picking, scratching, tanning, or prolonged sun exposure for up to 4 weeks.

Peeling and itchiness are normal in the healing process. Try to avoid messing with it!
